The Wright Brothers Collection housed in Special Collections and Archives is one of the most complete collections of Wright material in the world. It includes the Wrights' own technical and personal library, family papers including letters, diaries, financial records, genealogical files, and other documents detailing the lives and work of Wilbur and Orville Wright. Charles E. Taylor: 1868-1956, The Wright Brothers Mechanician is available for sale from the University Libraries for $34.95 plus tax. All proceeds benefit the Special Collections & Archives. Howard DuFour and Peter J. Unitt tell the life of the man who built the engine that powered the Wright brothers’ successful 1903 Flyer. His lifetime spanned the advent of 2,800 horsepower radials, rocket and jet engines, two World Wars, and supersonic flight. The book will be available for purchase later in 2008.

A Dream Fulfilled: The Replica of the 1903 Wright Flyer at Wright State University

Naturalization Indexes

Naturalization is the process by which an alien becomes an American citizen. From the first naturalization law passed by Congress in 1790 through much of the early 20th century, an alien could become naturalized in any court of record, including county level courts. These indexes are alphabetical listings of the county level naturalization records held by Special Collections and Archives. Included in these records are both the First and Second Papers.
